Near Disaster

Sadly today my hardworking heat gun died during a roast. Fortunately it was between first and second crack, so while it is a little lighter than I'd normally prefer, it should be drinkable.

Still, it is a constant problem when roasting your own that something can go wrong, but that is true of any roaster and at least the components are cheap to replace.

Also I was lucky that I had a bag of Fiori to drink over the weekend - it only lasted a couple of days after we opened it though - very nice coffee.

Friday night in Brighton estate we had Vanessa from Epic visit us and demonstrate some techniques of using domestic machines.

Every time I get along to something like this I learn a little bit more that improves my coffee and the last month has been a good one for learning.

The next big learning leap will be roasting the beans for the fund raiser. The date for the Roast is Monday May 7 - its great to have a date set, and gives me some time lines to get things done by.
